The Jerry Iannarelli (JI) Scholarship Fund:
Purpose: To supply an annual scholarship for a high school senior athlete pursuing a healthcare-related career. The scholarship can be used towards college or vocation classes and will be awarded at the end of the students’ senior year in high school. The scholarship will be disbursed the following school year, once the student has enrolled and begun their healthcare-related classes.
Jerry Iannarelli was born March 12, 1962, in Queens Village New York.
A graduate of St. John’s University in New York, Jerry established himself as a well-respected Athletic Trainer. Early in his career, he worked with professional hockey teams across the country, such as The New York Islanders, and the Kentucky Thoroughblades, a San Jose Sharks affiliate. He then worked with the San Jose Sabercats arena football team. Jerry found his true calling when he was hired by Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) Santa Cruz in 2007. He worked with the company’s High School Athletics Outreach Program at Watsonville High School, where he was fondly known as “Jerry the Trainer”. At PAMF, Jerry exemplified the core of being a gold standard PAMF employee as he was constantly working for the betterment of high school student-athletes in the community of Santa Cruz and particularly at Watsonville high school. Jerry’s love for the kids and dedication to his work was felt by the entire community, as was his loss. He passed peacefully on September 20th, 2017 from cancer. His memory and legacy will continue through the Jerry Iannarelli scholarship fund as part of the Reggie Stephens foundation.
