Caleb Womack really lives what Seek. Believe. Achieve. means. He’s a Santa Cruz High alum and now a redshirt junior at San José State, and he’s honestly one of the hardest workers l’ve been around. Watching his journey has been powerful.
COVID hit right when Caleb was coming out of high school, right in the middle of his recruitment. A lot of opportunities disappeared overnight. Instead of feeling sorry for himself, he bet on himself and I helped him secure a walk on spot at San José State.
He earned his way onto the field through special teams, doing the stuff most people don’t want to do, but every team needs.
After his first year, he tore his ACL. Another setback. And once again, he just went to work. We spent a lot of time talking about details, mental toughness, consistency, showing up the same way every day. Caleb took all of it seriously. No excuses. No shortcuts.
That work paid off. He earned a full scholarship and still has two years left to play. Caleb is a coach’s dream. He’s tough, great in the classroom, humble, dependable, and he cares about getting better. I’m really proud of him. I can’t wait to see what’s next for him.
Much love, Caleb. Keep going.
