The Carlton Dare Keegan Memorial Scholarship is to be awarded to a student who embodies the spirit of Carlton. Carlton struggled with academics pretty much from day 1 of school, and was tested and on an IEP by the time he was in 1st grade. Despite all of the challenges that Carlton faced over the years, he persevered and never gave up. Carlton found his passion in the football program at Scotts Valley High School, and became the team captain for both football and lacrosse. Often teachers would say that Carlton was a Leader in and out of the classroom, and that students looked up to him.  Carlton was kind to all students, it didn’t matter the background or interests in common, he was an instant friend and was always looking out for the underdog.

The Scholarship will be awarded to a High School Senior at Scotts Valley High who is in either in the Kstreet Academy, or is on an IEP/Resource.  The kind of student who wouldn’t normally think they could get a Scholarship or have the motivation to try. A student who has had to overcome some obstacle in life but never gives up and always tries their best. A student, like Carlton, who has the characteristics of leadership, kindness, and inclusiveness.

In addition to the Scholarship, we will also be donating annually to the SVHS Football program and KStreet Academy, 2 programs that were a direct influence on Carltons school success.

If you would like to make a tax deductible donation, please do so below. We appreciate your support in helping carry on the Legacy of Carlton.

More information about how to apply for the scholarship will be available on March 20th. If you have any questions please email: Michelleriddle3@gmail.com
